“After composing for a large jazz ensemble, I wanted to explore the trio sounds of saxophone, bass, and drums. I was working with different combinations of triads over chords and composed music to explore those new sounds. My partners in this sound exploration were Barry Smith on bass and Mike Connors on drums, which made for a perfectly balanced trio”
